Principal Hayley acquires the iconic New Connaught Rooms in London and The Glasgow Central Hotel.
Leading European hotel and conference group grows to 24 hotels over 4100 bedrooms and over 500 meeting rooms with the new acquisitions.
As part of the acquisition, Principal-Hayley will be investing over £40 million in an extensive renovation and refurbishment programme across both the newly acquired properties.
The New Connaught Rooms will undergo an extensive refurbishment programme throughout July and August 2009. The refurbishment will be completed in September 2009 and will be re-launched with a sparkling new interior and under a brand new name ‘The Grand Connaught Rooms’.
The Glasgow Central Hotel located in the heart of Glasgow City next to the Central Train Station will be closed while the extensive refurbishment programme which includes an overhaul of all of the public areas and the addition of 30 more bedrooms is completed.
The hotel will re-open in February 2010 as the newly re-named ‘Grand Central Hotel’.
