Independent schools’ caterer has launched its own television channel

June 13th, 2009 by

Independent schools’ caterer, The Brookwood Partnership has launched its own television channel in a ground-breaking move to promote its promise of ‘a food standard that can’t be bettered’.

The Brookwood Partnership
The company is the first contract caterer to launch its own online video channel, which includes regular video features on recipes, interviews with the company’s clients and reports from Africa where their staff are building a school in one of the continent’s poorest regions.

The company has also announced that former BBC business correspondent, Nik Wood, has joined the organisation to lead the project and also work with Brookwood on its general marketing and communications strategy as it continues to grow its share of the independent schools sector.

BrookwoodTV is available though the company’s website, http://www.brookwood-ptnrs.com/ and contains a wide range of videos which will be continually updated to reflect day-to-day life in the business and in the schools they work with. Among the initial reports are features from Copthill School, where pupils grow their own vegetables that are served up by the Brookwood team on site, ‘The H Word’, which is a cookery slot presented by the company’s own Executive Development Chef, Harry Hickland, and an on the spot report from the recent Independent Schools’ Bursars Association conference in Torquay where clients of Brookwood were interviewed.

The project to open a school in the northern region of Uganda also features on the channel. Brookwood staff are funding the project through the charity, Build Africa. Nik Wood, who has reported throughout the world for the BBC, has been to Africa with the BrookwoodTV cameras and will return there later this year with Brookwood Managing Partner, Kate Martin, to see the school open.
“Brookwood is an innovative company and we decided to take an innovative approach to our communications strategy said Brookwood Managing Partner, Sue Parfett. “With the dramatic growth of the business, we decided to vastly increase our communication to our own people and our clients and this TV channel is just one of a number of projects that we have launched.”

As well as working for BBC television for 20 years, Nik Wood has corporate experience having worked at board level as director of marketing with two multi-national organisations based in the City of London. “As the father of three children who have come through the independent schools sector, Brookwood’s approach to educating pupils about food and serving up only fresh food greatly impressed me,” he said. “I think they are an extremely responsible company, otherwise as a journalist I could never have worked with them, and their clients seem to agree because they were only too happy to be interviewed on camera about the great service they receive.”

BROOKWOOD BACKGROUND:
